アメリカの独立記念日7月4日！今から約240年前の1776年7月4日にイギリスから独立したため「Independence Day(Fourth of July、July Forth)」としてお祝いしていますね。
アメリカ独立戦争は、英語ではUnited States War of Independence または American Revolutionary Warと呼ばれています。この戦争はイギリスとアメリカ東部沿岸のイギリス領の13植民地との戦争で、1775年4月19日から1783年9月3日まで続きました。

アメリカ独立戦争とは、アメリカ植民地のうち13植民地が政治的独立を勝ち取り、アメリカ合衆国を形成した反乱のことです。
独立戦争は、イギリスとアメリカの植民地との間で10年以上続きました。これは、イギリスが植民地問題に対するより大きな支配を主張しようとしたことによって引き起こされました。 1778年の初めまでの紛争はイギリスの内戦でしたが、その後、フランス（1778年）とスペイン（1779年）がイギリス対抗したため国際戦争になりました。
オランダは独自にイギリスと戦い、アメリカの戦争を経済的にも支援しました。当時、戦争に勝つためには海軍は不可欠でしたが、イギリスの作戦が弱かったため、アメリカに派遣された少数の軍隊とフランスが協力してイギリスの降伏をもたらしました。
