VISA

Visa requirements can differ based on your nationality, the host country, and the nature of the work. Understanding visas can be complex when pursuing an international job.

There are different categories of visas based on activity qualifications, such as “Technical and Humanities Knowledge” for which the visa type is categorized as an “Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services” visa. This category includes professionals in fields like mechanical engineering, interpretation, design, private enterprise, language instruction, and marketing. It’s important to note that management, administration, and accounting fall under a separate category of activity qualifications.
The duration of stay can vary from 5 years, 3 years, 1 year, 4 months (for management/administration only), to 3 months.

For American citizens, specific criteria are outlined:

A requirement of at least 3 years of practical experience in the related field of work is needed, supported by appropriate documentation. However, this is not necessary for individuals with a bachelor’s degree who are engaged in translation, interpretation, or language instruction.
A condition to receive compensation equal to or greater than that received by Japanese nationals engaging in the same work.

Learning from diverse and different perspectives not yet known to me has helped me develop myself professionally and personally. Not to mention the fact that working in a country as well known for its work culture will no doubt help with the resume, the work itself will help you learn new things of whichever field you work in.
